My all-time favorite is Jay Beckenstein's "Harbor Nights."

The last time several of us were heading to Glenside's Keswick to see Gato Barbieri, I played my Volume 1 Spyro Gyra's Favorites CD that I had burned and "Harbor Nights" hit a responsive note with everyone in the car.

Absolutely one of the finest of Jay's compositions and performances on alto saxophone. I like the "live" version on "Access All Areas" as well.

I have couple of favorites. I am not sure that I have the title right, but I believe one the early cd's has a tune called"Unknown Soldier" jfor some strange dreason that has always struck a cord with me. Also "Jennifers' Lullaby" off of Three Wishes. No I don't know a Jennifer just like the song.

If memory serves, a question at the SG site said Jennifer is Jay's wife.
As for my favorite, I'm partial to seven:
Both songs with Jennifer in them, Three Sisters, Awakening (an early favorite which, if I could only name one, might be among the top 3), Autumn of Our Love, Innocent Soul (heard that one live the same day Rites of Summer was released)and Rasul.

Shadow Play...beautiful tune! Horizon's Edge too. Not necessarily a ballad but Lost and Found is a favorite as well.

I'm also a Harbor Nights fan. I've never actually seen it live but from listening to AAA I know that would be an incredible live song. If you consider it a Ballad I also like Got the Magic. That song really struck a chord with me.(That would be a fun song to play)

I forgot an important pair:
I Believe in You - Alternating Currents
Inside Your Love - Three Wishes
They must be considered.

Let's go back in time about 21 years...

Remember "Rasul" from Morning Dance?

Simple, yet hauntingly sweet and melodic...brings back memories...

I love "Harbor Nights"....especially the AAA rendition.

Anyone who saw the 1998 Tour version of "I Believe In You" will have to count it as one of the best....the song just soared...particularly at the coda, where Julio just did an awesome two minute slow blues solo...reminiscent of David Gilmore of Pink Floyd.

Peace!
Paul
