I've been looking for a version of "Birdland" recorded by Spyro Gyra in the late 70s or early 80s and had no luck.

Can anybody help me find that?

Thanks.

"Birdland" was actually recorded by Weather Report, not Spyro Gyra. The album name is "Heavy Weather." It's the first track on the album.

Thank you very much.
(That explains why I've had trouble finding it)

If you really like that song and don't mind covers, check out:
Maynard Ferguson - Carnival / The Best of ...
The Manhattan Transfer - Extensions

Maynard's band does this one so well it's almost become HIS song. He performed it at every concert I attended. To date, I believe it's one of his most popular recordings.
The Transfer, with Janis Siegel on lead, pretty much follows the original, note for note, but with lyrics instead of instrumentals.

Quincy Jones has a nice version on 'Back On The Block'.
