Hmmm, I bought a Pioneer combo SACD and DVD-A player earlier this year. Kept it a couple of days and returned it. I listened to In Modern Times and Dark Side of the Moon SACDs. Quite frankly I wasn't impressed with the sound. I have a Sony 5.1 receiver and Bose AM10 speakers. Now I've read elsewhere that the Bose speakers are the problem. Maybe........... However with regular dvd's (as in concert dvd's) the sound is spectacular. I believe it had more to do with the inability to connect the player digitally. I understand from a tech at Crutchfield that the recording industry did not allow for digital connections - that only analog were allowed. The instruction manual reinforced that. Also with the 5.1 connection - no tone controls, no bass boost and no soundfields. Different sound/instruments came from different speakers but the sound was very flat. I'd be interested in others' experiences, comments and/or additional information.
