Hi everyone!

There's been a post in the Rippingons forum about a Ripps transcription book. I looked it up on the web and also discovered that there is a Spyro Gyra one. I went out and bought it from a local music store, and placed an order for the Ripps one. Here's a list of songs.

Catching The Sun
City Kids
Freetime
Heliopolis
Incognito
Joy Ride
Morning Dance
Shaker Song

I looked at Morning Dance so far, and it's really well done, except that the author(s) cut out half of Dave's solo by using a repeat, and at the end, where Jay plays solo stuff while the music fades, there is only about 4 bars of solos, again because of repeats. Other than that kind of thing, it's a good book.

For all you American customers, you can get a copy by going to www.zzounds.com. On the right side of the screen, there's a pulldown box. Pick Pop Artist, and in the box above, type Spyro Gyra, and hit the GO button. It's $11.37 US from this site, and they have free shipping. I paid $26.95 Canadian.

Thanks Mike...

I can think of, oh, at least one or two of our regular contributors who will really appreciate this link.

Peace!
Paul

hey guys, I also have that book and think it's great. The one big problem for me though is that they cut half of Dave's solo off and considering that and vibes are the instruments I play it's kind of a problem..........O well now I have an excuse to listen to Morning Dance constantly to pick up the rest of the solo.

I've seen this a while back, and it's not too bad. Right now I'm working on a book of transcriptions for my band. 15 done, 1 half-done, and the chords are laid down for about 8 more. We'll see how it turns out.
