Gary, Whatever you do, DO NOT jump on those tables! I certainly learned my lesson that night during the 7pm performance that the Ram's Head tables are not the most stable. I simply went to rest my arm at the edge and the entire table lifted up spilling my drink all over my lap. However, this did not bother me in the least bit and I continued to enjoy the excellent show. (It was water, BTW. Maybe that's why it didn't bother me much ) I also noticed that Jay seemed to be a little "off" during the first set. I remember him saying "This next song is from the new album, well, actually, it isn't from the new album". No matter what, I was blown away by the show and I have a new-found respect for Scott Ambush. All I can say is WOW

Just completed my double dose of Spyrogyra weekend! Saturday at the Ramshead, and today, Sunday, at Alexandria. Now, I'm going through withdrawal. It was great hearing so much of the new material performed live. I only wish they would add Extrovertical to the setlist. (Just a subtle hint if any of you Spyro guys read this.) Julio popped a guitar string on Sunday. There's not much else I can add - everyone was tight, everyone was consistent, and as usual, everyone is at the top of their game. Yes, Jay was a little off, but I'm willing to cut him some slack. After 27 (?) years, almost as many albums, and thousands of live performances over that time period, the man is entitled to an off night every now and then. We still show him the love!

If any of you has attended any of the shows on the ongoing Cher farewell tour, she made a statement that makes me think of this thread. Cher said someting to the effect of, 'When everything else in the world is gone, remaining will be the ****roaches and Cher.' In my opinion, there will be three things. Those two and THIS THREAD! I too got a serious Spyro fix (three sets in approx. 20 hours) this weekend. One of the memories from today's set at the Alexandria Waterfront Festival at Oronoco Bay swamp (thanks to the wettest spring that I think I've ever seen) that will stick with me is how Jay introduced the band the first time. It was no doubt produced by a combination of wit and visible exhaustion. "Tom Schuman. He's from Bethesda. Scott Ambush. He's from Frederick. Joel Rosenblatt. He's not from here. Julio Fernandez. He's here now." Someone asked Jay where he was from and he mumbled something about having no idea. As Libra pointed out, Julio finished the last tune or three with a broken string AND a missing tremolo bar. After the set, I mentioned the tremolo bar to him. He had no idea and became quite alarmed upon learning this. Hope he found it... Ran into Joel at dinner well after today's show. He has good taste in restaurants. Shame on the rest of ya... :p Libra Lady, if we ever get to see Deep End again together, I'll take that dollar... Russell, where were your seats? We probably saw each other...

Russell, where were your seats? We probably saw each other... That was pretty cool. I never realized there were so many native Marylanders in the band. Gary, I was directly left of the stage and my table was right next to a pillar. I probably stood out like a sore thumb. I was probably one of the youngest attendees (22) and I have a military (jarhead) haircut. I was with my father, so it was a young guy and a really old guy at one table (he'd kill me if he saw that ).

Hey Gary and Libra! Glad you got to see Spyro this weekend! (THREE times!!!) Sure wish I could have been there!!! But it was a blast seeing my daughter's state championship soccer tournament... they've gone undefeated so far and will play in the final for the state championship tomorrow morning! Rick

Russell, Gary, and LibraLady, my friends and I were also at the 2nd Ram's Head show Saturday night. I hadn't seen Spyro Gyra in ages, so it was quite a treat, even if Jay was having a bit of an off night. Gary, thanks for the info on that tenor sax. As a sax player myself, I couldn't believe how beautiful that thing was. How new is it? It looked like it just came from the factory. Some friends and I are planning to fly out to Vegas for Spyro Gyra's show with Chris Botti on Sept. 6 (we just like excuses to go to Vegas), and I can't wait to see them again! Michelle T.

I also attended the two shows at Rams Head Tavern and loved every minute. Got to spend a lot of time with Gary and his wife plus I got to meet LibraLady at the show. The venue is a terrific place for a concert and the restaurant is top shelf. Most of the show has been described already. Jay’s new sax is stunning and sounds great being played by him. The show definitely had levity to it as was written about above. One of the highlights for me was when Tom, Joel and Scott (on stand-up bass) jumped out to play together. They were having a good time playing off each other and the facial expressions were priceless. Gary, I’ll toss in another buck if you do jump up on the table. One other person who was a joy to meet and spend some time with was Tom’s wife. She has a tremendous personality. One could see right away how much she loved, cared, respected and admired Tom, and vise versa. What a great partnership team they have. Russ, I wish we could have hooked up so at least I would have a face to go with the name. Gary thanks for all the hospitality. Happy listening, Lou

Wow I must have been close to everybody. I went to the second show at Rams Head. My wife and I were at table 100, seats 1 & 2. I was right in front of Julio, I mean so close I could have tied his shoe's if they came unlaced. I was wearing black pants with a gray shirt.
