Well, I feel like Steve Martin in that movie where he started yelling, "The new phonebook is here, the new phonebook is here!"

Spyro Gyra finally announced a Southern California date: August 13, 1999, at the Hyatt Newporter in Newport Beach Cailfornia!

Woo Hoo!

Peace!
Paul

You know... it sucks living in Kentucky and being a die-hard fan of a not-so popular genre of music (especially here). You guys in CA, PA, NY, and FL always have a close concert to go to. I was extremely fortunate to have the Rippingtons visit KY last year on their Black Diamond tour--which was a concert I'll never forget. But it was brought up that it was the first time in three years since they had been there. I don't know if SG has EVER been to KY. I doubt it. And unfortunately, I'm not a traveler... especially just for a concert. So I don't see myself going out of the state for a concert. Oh well... just wanted to vent... thanks for listening.

Boo Hoo!

Jader,

Thanks for your reply.

Sometimes other people help you to NOT take for granted how fortunate you are.

I am honestly not trying to rub it in, but I was fortunate to see Spyro Gyra a total of four times on the 1998 tour...twice within 30 miles, twice at a drive of around 99-111 miles. They are worth a) the drive, and b) multiple concerts on the same tour, as the band changes the songs, and especially the solo's every night, and drastically. Some bands try to play the songs exactly like they are on record...Spyro does exactly the opposite...they go way out of their way to make the composition a different animal EVERYY time they play it...even if they play it 150 times on a tour!

Last August, one of the times I saw Spyro Gyra, the Rippingtons were on the bill with them!! How's that for a double feature(Rick Braun opened!)???

Peace!
Paul

Paul,

That's awesome! I would be glad to see them once every four years... but four times in one year must truly be an experience. My dream is that someday, this genre will become popular enough that there are MANY artists like SG and The Ripps that are touring all over the world--maybe even Kentucky. And they'll be played on the air in every city. I feel someday (maybe soon) we'll be able to tune in to stations all over the world, right from our car. But I guess we'll have to get them to quick playing the "smooth" stuff long enough to play the "real" stuff!

One word: Green.
